Blocknet was initially announced as a blockchain interoperability project in October 2014. Its initial approach to interoperability was using Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs), which are a type of Application Programming Interface (API) calls commonly used to interact with the Bitcoin protocol and other tokens. Blocknet’s “XBridge” technology will attempt to use this common messaging system to enable cross-chain transactions in a single peer-to-peer marketplace. It appears that project has pivoted its strategy in the short term and is now emphasizing the development of a decentralized exchange. Blocknet’s current implementation is a fork of PIVX, which is a fork of DASH. Although the project was initially being developed by members of the XCoin team, we were unable to clearly identify who is currently developing it.
