The Walton network was named after Charlie Walton, the inventor of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), which is a technology that uses electromagnetic fields to identify and track devices attached to objects. Walton intends to use this technology to enable Machine-to-Machine transactions between everyday objects, a concept colloquially referred to as the Internet-of-Things. According to the project’s white paper, the Walton network will enable the creation of state channels to facilitate these interactions. Although the same document states that WTC has a unique network, the current implementation of the token is on top of the Ethereum blockchain, as a simple ERC20 token. We were unable to verify any technical development regarding the promised state channel network.
